Navigation Gulfcoast Legal Services sees spike in domestic violence cases
Gulfcoast Legal Services (GLS) has seen a steady spike in new cases involving domestic violence around the month of October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Most often, those experiencing domestic violence are assisted by the GLS family law team, which provides comprehensive, client-centered services regarding divorces, injunctions for protection, paternity, child support, and more.
In September, Gulfcoast Legal Services’ family law team opened 109 new cases for clients who are victims of a crime in Pinellas County, which is over three times the normal number. Of the new cases, GLS said 107 were for clients experiencing domestic violence. The most common legal issues they have were issues regarding custody and visitation, child support, and divorce.
