The Guardianship Improvement Task Force will hold an in-person meeting on Thursday, September 23, in Tallahassee from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., EDT.

The Guardianship Improvement Task Force includes clerks of court, legislators, judges, lawyers, guardians, and others, and members set out the goals they hope to accomplish. The task force is sponsored and staffed by the Florida Court Clerks & Comptrollers and was designed to represent a broad spectrum of viewpoints, and includes representatives of the Bar’s Elder Law and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law sections.

At its last meeting, the task force heard from attorneys appointed to represent alleged incapacitated persons in guardianship proceedings and from family and professional guardians. (See story here.) At this meeting the task force is expected to review and continue drafting its recommendations.
