Florida court clerks are expected to reap an additional $28.8 million in state revenue, and domestic violence victims will have an easier time seeking protective orders under bills Gov. Ron DeSantis signed late Monday.

The Senate in March voted 40-0 to grant final legislative approval to the clerk funding bill, HB 1077, by Rep. Adam Botana, R-Bonita Springs. Sen. Travis Hutson, R-Palm Coast, sponsored the companion, SB 1470. The legislation became effective with DeSantis’ signature.

The bills redirect certain court fines and fees from state general revenue to the daily operation of court clerks as part of a multi-year effort to stabilize clerk’s budgets.
