A prominent Cuban dissident and former political prisoner will be the keynote speaker at a Cuban American Bar Association forum November 18 at the University of Miami.

José Daniel Ferrer, who was allowed to flee to Miami last month after spending four years in a Cuban prison, will keynote a CABA “Cuban Voices” forum, “Rights, Reality, and Rule of Law,” at UM’s Otto G. Richter Library in Coral Gables.

UM Law Interim Dean Patricia Abril will moderate a program that also includes Rosa Maria Payá Acevedo, commissioner-elect with the Organization of American States’ Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, and Inter-American Human Rights Commissioner Edgar Stuardo Ralon Orellano, who also serves as Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons Deprived of Liberty.
