In the wake of last week’s retirement announcement by Justice Alan Lawson, the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission will meet at 10 a.m. May 5 to begin the work of nominating his replacement.
The call-in number for the meeting, which is open and public, is 877-380-5440. The participant code is 8502411725. On the agenda is the election of chair and vice chair and a discussion of procedures and timing for Florida Supreme Court nominations.
Justice Lawson announced his upcoming retirement April 29 and notified the governor of the vacancy it will create on the court when it is effective August 31.
