Florida courts see $53 million boost in FY 2025-26 state budget
Sharp differences over taxes and spending cuts forced the 2025 session into overtime, but when the dust settled, Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Legislature had no qualms investing significant new resources in a state court system that is implementing landmark efficiencies.
Still accounting for less than 1% of the $114.7 billion FY 2025-26 state budget, the court system’s $794.6 million budget, with 4,702 full-time equivalent positions, or FTEs, grew by $53.3 million, even after DeSantis’ more than $900 million in vetoes.
Much of the increase, $18.8 million, paid for 39 new judges and support personnel, a total of 97 FTEs, including two new judges for the new Sixth District Court of Appeal.
