The Florida Chamber of Commerce intends to make civil justice reform — or curbing “lawsuit abuse” — a top priority in the 60-day legislative session that convenes March 7.

At Tuesday’s kickoff of the “2023 Florida Chamber Legislative Fly In,” President and CEO Mark Wilson said his members’ two biggest concerns, after inflation, are insurance and litigation costs.

“We have the fifth-worst legal climate in the United States, that’s a major headwind, and we’re going to do something about that,” Wilson said. “The governor and speaker and president are already on this, but they’re counting on us to stay united.”
