Florida Board of Bar Examiners needs a public member
Members of the public are invited to volunteer on or before Monday, March 25, for one vacancy on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners.
A joint screening committee of Florida Bar Board of Governors members and Florida Board of Bar Examiners members will recommend three nominees for the vacancy to the Supreme Court. The court will appoint one public member to serve a three-year term commencing November 1 and expiring on October 31, 2027. The board ensures that applicants seeking admission to The Florida Bar have met the requirements of the rules with regard to character and fitness, education and technical competence prior to recommending to the Supreme Court an applicant’s admission to The Florida Bar.
A public member volunteer must have a bachelor’s degree and be deemed qualified by the court to assess whether applicants for admission to The Florida Bar meet the essential eligibility requirements for admission under the Rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to the Bar. Past public member volunteers have possessed experience in education, medicine, psychology, science, accounting, statistical analysis, retired military, and various other professions. Lawyers are not eligible.
