After a four-year pause due to lack of funding, FFLA will once again fund its Civil Legal Aid Summer Fellows program, through which Florida law students spend 10 weeks working at a legal aid organization.

FFLA allocated $100,000 to fund 10 fellows for the 2024 program. In January, The Family Law Section donated $37,500 to cover the costs of four additional fellows who have interest in marital and family law.

“The overwhelming support of the section is heartwarming,” said Maria Gonzalez, a former Family Law Section chair and current FFLA board member. “Support of our young lawyers is essential, particularly in a way that may impact them to continue to assist low-income families with legal services as a result of this fellowship.”
