Navigation Family Law Section opposed alimony bill pulled from consideration

The sponsor of a controversial proposal to eliminate so-called “permanent alimony” has withdrawn his bill, saying he will try again next year.
Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota, withdrew SB 1922 from consideration at an April 20 meeting of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Gruters made the announcement shortly after introducing the latest iteration of the bill that appeared to be an attempt at a compromise with critics.
