That’s one argument a lawyer for the Rules of Judicial Administration Committee made in June 2 oral arguments in In re: Amendments to Florida Rule of Judicial Administration 2.423, Case No. 20-1128.

Tampa lawyer Michael Schmid told the justices that Florida’s 20 judicial circuits are interpreting the amendment differently, with some requiring a court order to implement it.
