The Board of Governors, prompted by a growing body of federal caselaw, will begin weighing policy changes that would restrict financial support for Florida Bar sections.

At a July 19 meeting in Coral Gables, the board will consider, on first reading only, proposed changes to Standing Board Policy 5.56 (Section Administrative Support Policy, Section Management), stemming from a review of Bar policies.

The proposed changes would eliminate a subdivision that calls for the Bar to contribute administrative support in the value of $10 per section member for the first 1,000 members, and $5 per each additional member.
