Board of Governors to consider rule and bylaw revisions at May meeting
When it meets May 16 in Key West, the Board of Governors will consider dozens of proposed rule and bylaw amendments, from scrubbing outdated references to mental health conditions, to streamlining the approval process for certified legal interns.
Convening for the last time in the Bar year, the Board of Governors will also weigh a bylaw revision that sponsors say will hold Bar committee members more accountable for unexcused absences.
The board will weigh proposed amendments to 11 bylaws and rules to remove outdated language, including a proposed amendment to Bylaw 2-3.2 (Powers), that would substitute “substance use disorder,” for “chemical dependency,” and “mental health condition” for “psychological problem.”
