The Board of Governors agreed September 19 to approve a new “Insurance Coverage Law” board certification program, and proposed rule and bylaw revisions that range from a new reporting requirement for lawyers facing involuntary commitment, to a stricter attendance policy for certain standing committees.

Meeting in Tampa, the board voted unanimously to approve a Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section proposal to add an “Insurance Coverage Law” certification area to the Bar’s 27 programs.

Tampa insurance lawyer Debbie Crockett chaired a RPPTL special committee that submitted the proposal after back-to-back hurricanes devastated a wide swath of the state, from Tampa Bay to Volusia County.
