Bill would prohibit judges from sentencing ‘no-show’ jurors to more than three days in jail
Sen. Bobby Powell
A South Florida lawmaker is renewing an attempt to limit the sanctions a court can impose for missing jury duty after a young constituent served a jail sentence.
Sen. Bobby Powell, D-West Palm Beach, filed SB 638 on February 16. The measure has been referred to the Judiciary, Criminal Justice, and Rules committees. There is no House companion.
