A bill that addresses several minor issues to help the courts function better, allow jurors to postpone their service because of public health emergencies, and also automatically index the monetary civil jurisdiction of county courts is moving in the Senate.

SB 748, by Sen. Jeff Brandes, R-St. Petersburg, passed the Senate Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations Committee on March 24.

“This is a courts’ bill that has largely been recommended by the Supreme Court,” Brandes said.
