Beginning July 1, Basic Skills Course and PWP registration fees to be cut in half
In a move aimed at supporting new members, The Florida Bar will cut the cost of registration for the required Practicing with Professionalism (PWP) course and Basic Skills Course Requirement (BSCR) programs by 50% beginning July 1.
The change comes at the request of the Florida Supreme Court and represents a significant step toward reducing financial barriers for newly admitted attorneys as they begin their legal careers. Currently, registration for the PWP course is $165, and each Basic Skills Course is $180. Beginning July 1, PWP will cost $82.50, and each Basic Skills Course will be $90.
The BSCR was established under Rule 6-12.3 of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar to ensure that all attorneys begin their practice with a strong foundation in professionalism and core legal knowledge. All new members of The Florida Bar’s Young Lawyers Division (YLD) must complete the BSCR unless they are exempt or have obtained deferment status.
