What began as one man’s multi-marathon philanthropic quest in support of Jacksonville Area Legal Aid has turned into a community-wide, multi-million-dollar effort to ensure that Northeast Florida children confronting chronic and debilitating illnesses exacerbated by poverty-related legal issues will have lawyers in their corner.

Teams representing the health-care, legal and business communities each gather pledges of support and complete one of six marathon relays over six days, beginning on the steps of the Florida Supreme Court on November 15 and ending on the lawn of the Duval County Courthouse November 20. The standout exception for Freed to Run 5.0 is VyStar Credit Union, which has committed to running all six marathons alongside event founder Mike Freed, the Gunster shareholder who will be completing his 30th Freed to Run marathon in five years.
