Board of Governors satisfied with interim suspension rule
The Board of Governors, after being reassured that a lawyer’s due process rights are protected, agreed Friday not to comment on the Supreme Court’s recent amendments to an interim suspension rule that takes effect later this year.
Disciplinary Procedure Committee Chair John Agnew assured the board that the amendments to Rule 3-5.3 (Interim Suspension) that the Supreme Court approved on its own motion in June address the committee’s concerns.
“The DPC is very comfortable with what was created, and it’s important to note this is not a mandatory suspension, it’s a permissive one,” Agnew said. “With all of those guardrails in place, I would strongly recommend leaving it as is, without comment.”
