A Florida Bar member from Pensacola is warning colleagues about a new, highly sophisticated scam targeting plaintiff’s attorneys — involving a fabricated personal injury claim, fake defendants, and counterfeit settlement checks.

The attorney was contacted by a man claiming to have suffered a severe dog bite in Escambia County about a year ago

“He provided me with a picture of his face that looked horrible,” the lawyer said.
