With budget deal in place, governor faces stack of court-related bills
Legislators strengthened Florida’s vexatious litigant law, stiffened criminal penalties for harassing “court officials,” and capped court-ordered arbitrator “compensation rates,” among other things, before a bitter budget dispute nearly derailed the 2025 session.
They also restored the rights of certain adult medical negligence survivors to sue for pain and suffering — only to have Gov. Ron DeSantis veto HB 6017.
“I think the question is what would this legislation do for costs of health care in Florida, access to care in Florida, and our ability to recruit and keep physicians,” DeSantis told reporters.
