The Rule of Law

Lawyers should honor the law and the rule of law. Is there any doubt in that statement? I sure hope not.

Unfortunately, I am prone to wonder. Poll after poll finds that authoritarianism is being accepted in our nation. While lawyers should be expressing themselves in uniformity against authoritarianism, instead teams of government attorneys defend the authoritarian acts of government officials who ignore traditional norms, freedoms, and the rule of law.
