Proposed amendment to Bar Rule: Addition of Chapter 22 (State government authorization to engage in the practice of law in Florida)
A group of members of The Florida Bar give notice of the filing with the Florida Supreme Court, on May 20, 2025, of a petition to amend the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. Petitioners are requesting in the petition that the Florida Supreme Court waive the 90-day notice to the executive director requirement and the 30-day official notice in the print version of the Bar News, pursuant to Rule Regulating The Florida Bar 1-12.1(i) (permitting the court to “waive any or all of the provisions of this rule”).
A summary of the proposed amendment and full text is printed below. Members who desire to comment on the proposed amendment may do so within 30 days of the filing of the petition, or within such time as the Florida Supreme Court may provide. Comments must be filed directly with the clerk of the Supreme Court of Florida, and a copy must be served on the executive director of The Florida Bar and any persons who may have made an appearance in the matter. Rule 1-12.1, Rules Regulating The Florida Bar, governs these proceedings.
