A slip-and-fall incident at a local restaurant has led to a legal battle, as a resident of Lantana, Florida seeks compensation for injuries sustained. Millie Isabel Rivera filed a complaint against La Fonda Restaurant, Inc. in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida on May 9, 2025. The lawsuit accuses the restaurant of negligence that resulted in her severe injuries.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on June 1, 2024, when Rivera visited La Fonda Restaurant located at 2845 North Military Trail in West Palm Beach. As a business invitee, she expected safe conditions but encountered a hazardous situation due to the restaurant’s alleged negligence. According to the complaint, Rivera slipped and fell on a dirty and slippery substance left on the floor by the restaurant’s staff or agents. This incident resulted in serious injuries to her body and extremities.

Rivera claims that La Fonda Restaurant had exclusive control over its premises and failed to maintain them safely. The lawsuit states that the restaurant either knew or should have known about the dangerous condition but did not take appropriate measures to warn patrons like Rivera. “The Defendant had a non-delegable duty to maintain common areas in a reasonably safe condition,” reads the complaint.
