Plaintiff alleges negligence by convenience store giant over slip-and-fall injury
Michele James has taken legal action against a major convenience store chain, accusing it of negligence after suffering injuries on its premises. On April 22, 2025, Michele James filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against 7-Eleven, Inc., seeking damages exceeding $50,000.
The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on June 11, 2024. According to the complaint, James was visiting a 7-Eleven store located at 8890 Ulmerton Road in Largo, Florida. As an invitee with the store’s knowledge and consent, she alleges that she slipped and fell due to a wet and slippery substance on the floor—a condition she claims was dangerous and not apparent to her. The plaintiff asserts that this hazardous condition resulted from the defendant’s failure to maintain safe premises.
James accuses 7-Eleven of multiple acts of negligence. These include failing to keep the premises safe for customers like her and not exercising reasonable diligence to identify or remedy the dangerous condition. She further claims that there were no warnings about the slippery floor and that no barriers or protective measures were put in place to prevent such accidents. “Negligently and carelessly failed to discover the unreasonably wet and slippery condition,” reads one part of her allegations against the corporation.
