Plaintiff injured shopper sues Family Dollar Store for negligence
A slip-and-fall incident at a popular retail store has led to a legal battle that highlights the responsibilities of businesses towards their customers. Brenda Williams, through her attorney Patrick Dyer, filed a complaint on April 5, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. The lawsuit targets Family Dollar Stores of Florida, LLC for alleged negligence resulting in her injury.
The complaint arises from an incident on April 7, 2021, when Brenda Williams visited a Family Dollar store located at 1225 45th Street in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to the court documents, Williams was lawfully on the premises as a business invitee when she slipped and fell due to a clear liquid left unattended on the floor. The plaintiff claims that this slip and fall resulted from the negligent acts or omissions by Family Dollar Stores of Florida, LLC. Specifically, it is alleged that the company failed to maintain a safe environment for its patrons by not keeping the premises in proper condition and failing to warn about existing hazards.
Williams accuses Family Dollar Stores of failing to exercise ordinary care which would have identified and rectified such unsafe conditions. The lawsuit contends that the defendant should have known about the dangerous environment and taken steps either to clean up or warn customers like Williams about potential risks. As a result of this negligence, Williams reportedly suffered significant injuries including bodily harm, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, and incurred medical expenses.
