FFLA grant to Legal Aid Service of Broward County helped 1,770 in need
Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc. (LASBC) assisted 724 Broward County clients in need with free legal services during 2024 through funding furnished by Funding Florida Legal Aid (FFLA). The free legal services provided by LASBC included assistance to individuals and families facing eviction, homelessness, wage or bank garnishment and other debt collection matters, and other civil legal matters of significant consequence to their lives, who could not afford to hire private counsel to address their needs.
“We are extremely grateful to the FFLA for the IOTA grant that has had an incredibly positive impact on our mission and the thousands in need who come to Legal Aid for help each year,” states Debra Koprowski, LASBC regional executive director. “This grant has been a game-changer and provided the capacity to help our program to meet the growing need in our community for services and to enhance the safety net Legal Aid provides for those struggling during these challenging times for the lower income clients we serve.”
Including household members, the FFLA grant to LASBC helped more than 1,770 Broward County residents directly, and many more through the community-wide impact of the services provided to individual clients in need.
