Rep. Richard Gentry
The Florida House voted 108-0 on April 3 to pass a bill that mandates clerks of court to transmit ex parte orders for involuntary commitments to law enforcement within six hours.
Sponsor Republican Rep. Richard Gentry, a retired DeBary attorney, said HB 513 “requires clerks of the court to electronically transmit specified petitions, notices of hearings, summons, and orders within a six-hour time frame, including orders for involuntary examination under the Baker Act, involuntary services under the Marchman Act, and risk protection orders.”
