Josephine Thomas, a resident of Jupiter, Florida, has filed a lawsuit against two roofing companies following a severe injury she sustained at her home. The complaint was filed on March 7, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. The defendants named in the case are Atlanta’s Reliable Roofing Co., operating as Reliable Roofing of Florida Inc., and XLR8 Roofing & Construction LLC.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on March 23, 2021. According to the complaint, Josephine Thomas was inside her residence when a piece of wood was thrust through her window by the defendants’ actions during roof repair work. This accident resulted in shards of glass entering Thomas’s eye, causing significant bodily harm. The plaintiff alleges that both companies were hired by her landlord to perform roof repairs on her home and failed to exercise reasonable care during their operations.

Thomas accuses both Atlanta’s Reliable Roofing Co. and XLR8 Roofing & Construction LLC of negligence on several counts. These include failing to use reasonable care while performing construction work on her roof and neglecting to warn her before causing a large piece of plywood to crash through her window. Additionally, she claims they did not take necessary precautions to secure equipment and materials or inspect the premises for potential hazards during construction.
