Carlos Alfonso has filed a lawsuit against Moore’s True Value Hardware, Inc., claiming negligence after suffering an injury on their premises. The complaint was lodged in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on February 20, 2025. Alfonso accuses Moore’s True Value Hardware of failing to maintain a safe environment for its customers.

The incident that led to this legal action occurred on April 10, 2023. Carlos Alfonso was visiting Moore’s True Value Hardware as a business invitee when he tripped over an unguarded chainsaw left on the store floor. This accident resulted in a severe laceration to his foot. Alfonso alleges that the hardware store neglected its duty to ensure customer safety by allowing such hazardous conditions to exist within their premises. According to the complaint, “Defendant acted negligently and carelessly” by not properly inspecting or maintaining the store’s interior walkways and failing to warn customers about potential dangers.

Alfonso claims that Moore’s True Value Hardware had either actual or constructive knowledge of the dangerous condition since it had been present long enough for them to address it through ordinary care. He argues that the presence of the unguarded chainsaw created an unnecessary risk for patrons like himself and constituted a breach of duty by the defendant. Furthermore, Alfonso asserts that the hardware store failed in several aspects: from not adequately training staff and neglecting corporate policies regarding hazardous conditions, to not providing sufficient warnings about potential dangers.
