Derrick Grant has filed a lawsuit against BWW 18.001 Skyway, LLC, alleging negligence after suffering a severe injury at one of their premises. The complaint was filed on February 21, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida. The plaintiff is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 due to an incident that occurred on August 15, 2024.

According to the complaint, Derrick Grant was lawfully present as a business invitee at Woodie’s Wash Shack located at 3401 34th Street S., St. Petersburg when he suffered a serious injury. While vacuuming his vehicle using equipment provided by the establishment, a piece of metal attached to or stuck in the vacuum pierced through his right knuckle and index finger. This incident resulted in significant and permanent physical injuries for Grant.

The plaintiff alleges that BWW 18.001 Skyway, LLC was negligent in maintaining their premises safely and failed to ensure that all equipment was safe for use by customers. The complaint details several specific allegations against the defendant including failure to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition, inadequate training of employees regarding equipment safety, lack of regular inspections and safety audits on equipment, and failure to warn patrons about potential hazards.
