Homeowner Sues Construction Company Over Alleged Negligence During Renovation
Robert Diaz has filed a lawsuit against Florida Building Technologies, Inc. and Stacey Majewski, accusing them of negligence and breach of contract after a disastrous home renovation project left his property in shambles. The complaint was filed on February 18, 2025, in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Pinellas County, Florida.
The legal battle stems from a home renovation agreement between Robert Diaz and Florida Building Technologies (FBT), represented by William A. Majewski. In February 2024, Diaz sought to replace cedar siding with stucco on his Seminole, Florida home. However, what began as a straightforward renovation turned into an eight-month ordeal that ended with FBT’s termination due to “complete lack of performance.” Despite an estimated cost of $177,451.20 for the project, Diaz claims he paid FBT $675,000 and an additional $34,901 to subcontractors directly.
Diaz alleges that the work performed by FBT was not only substandard but also resulted in significant damage to his property. He describes multiple instances where construction flaws led to water intrusion and subsequent damage to drywall, electronics, furniture, and other personal belongings. For example, he recounts how the theater room suffered extensive water damage after FBT removed siding without proper waterproofing measures. “It rained inside of the theater room for quite some time,” Diaz stated in his complaint.
