Plaintiff Nicholas Webb Accuses Publix Supermarket Chain of Negligence Following Slip-and-Fall Incident
Nicholas Webb has filed a lawsuit against a major supermarket chain, accusing it of negligence after he suffered injuries from a slip and fall incident. The complaint was lodged in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on January 21, 2025, targeting Publix Super Markets Inc.
The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on July 3, 2024, at a Publix location on Lake Worth Road in Palm Beach County. According to the complaint, Webb was a business invitee at the store when he slipped and fell due to liquid on the floor. The plaintiff alleges that Publix had a non-delegable duty to maintain safe premises for its customers but failed to do so. Webb’s attorney argues that the supermarket neglected its responsibility by not ensuring the floor was free from hazardous conditions like accumulated liquids or other substances.
In detailing the negligence claim, Webb accuses Publix of several specific failures: not maintaining the floor in a reasonably safe condition; failing to warn customers about existing dangers; neglecting to place warning signs or barricades around hazardous areas; and not remedying dangerous conditions promptly. “Defendant’s negligence caused Plaintiff to slip and fall on the Premises and caused Plaintiff injury,” states the complaint.
