Antonio Dwayne Pickett has filed a lawsuit against a major retail corporation and one of its managers, alleging negligence that resulted in severe injuries. The complaint was filed by Pickett on January 6, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, naming Wal-Mart Stores East, LP and Roberta Dormea Janaque as defendants.

According to the court documents, Pickett claims that on May 8, 2023, he visited a Wal-Mart store located at 4225 45th Street in West Palm Beach. During his visit, he was allegedly injured due to slipping on a foreign substance present on the store’s premises. Pickett argues that both Wal-Mart and its manager Janaque failed to maintain a safe environment for customers by not adequately inspecting or maintaining the premises. The complaint outlines several specific accusations against Wal-Mart including “negligently failing to maintain or adequately maintain the Premises,” and “negligently failing to inspect or adequately warn Plaintiff of the danger.”

The lawsuit also targets Roberta Dormea Janaque personally for her role as manager of the store. It alleges that she had a duty to ensure safety but failed to establish or follow proper inspection procedures. The complaint accuses her of allowing dangerous conditions to persist without adequate warning or correction. It states that these failures led directly to Pickett’s injuries which include serious harm to his head, neck, back, chest, abdomen, body, and limbs.
