A woman has filed a lawsuit alleging negligence after sustaining serious injuries from a collapsing kitchen counter. Whizdom Williams initiated the complaint against Gillian S. Myers and JD Myers, II, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on December 31, 2024.

According to the complaint, Williams was visiting her parents at a property owned by the defendants on July 27, 2021. The property is located at 16336 Mira Vista Lane in Delray Beach, Florida. While seated on a marble kitchen counter, it cracked due to improper installation and caused her to fall and suffer permanent injuries. Williams claims that Gillian S. Myers and JD Myers, II were negligent in their duty to maintain the property safely for residents and guests. The plaintiff asserts that the defendants “owed a nondelegable duty of reasonable care” to ensure the premises were free from dangerous conditions and failed to warn of any such hazards.

The complaint outlines several accusations against the defendants, including failing to inspect and repair hazardous conditions like the improperly installed kitchen counter. It alleges that this negligence directly resulted in Williams’ injuries which include bodily harm, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of wages, and impaired working ability. The lawsuit emphasizes that these injuries are either permanent or continuing in nature.
