Mary Ortisi has filed a lawsuit against South Florida Fair and Palm Beach County Expositions, Inc., claiming negligence after suffering injuries at the fairgrounds. The complaint was filed on December 31, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. Ortisi alleges that the defendant failed to maintain safe premises at Yesteryear Village, part of the South Florida Fairgrounds.

According to the lawsuit, on April 28, 2024, Mary Ortisi was an invitee at the South Florida Fairgrounds when she encountered an uneven and raised walkway that posed a tripping hazard. The complaint asserts that South Florida Fair and Palm Beach County Expositions, Inc., had a duty to ensure the safety of its premises and warn visitors of any known dangers. However, it is alleged that they breached this duty by allowing such a hazardous condition to exist without proper warning.

Ortisi’s legal team argues that the dangerous condition was either created by or known to the defendant or had existed long enough for them to have been aware of it. Alternatively, they suggest that such conditions occurred regularly enough to be considered reasonably foreseeable. As a result of this negligence, Ortisi suffered a fall leading to significant injuries including bodily harm, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life.
