Nonattorney of the public are invited to volunteer to be considered for nomination for one vacancy on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. A joint screening committee of Florida Bar Board of Governors and Florida Board of Bar Examiners members will recommend three nominees for the vacancy to the Supreme Court of Florida, which will appoint one public member to serve a three-year term commencing Nov. 1, 2025, and expiring on Oct. 31, 2028.

The Board of Bar Examiners ensures that applicants seeking admission to The Florida Bar have met the requirements of the rules regarding character and fitness, education, and technical competence prior to recommending to the Supreme Court of Florida an applicant’s admission to the Bar.

A public member of the board must have a bachelor’s degree and be deemed qualified by the court to assess whether applicants for admission to the Bar meet the essential eligibility requirements under the rules of the Supreme Court Relating to Admissions to the Bar. Past public member volunteers have experience in education, medicine, psychology, science, accounting, statistical analysis, the military, and various other professions.
