Plaintiffs Allege Negligence Against HCA Florida JFK Hospital Over Patient Care
Peter Klein and Esti Anne Klein have filed a lawsuit against a prominent medical facility, alleging negligence that led to severe complications during Peter Klein’s treatment. The complaint was filed on November 4, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, naming JFK Medical Center Limited Partnership, doing business as HCA Florida JFK Hospital, as the defendant.
The Kleins’ case centers around a series of alleged negligent acts by the hospital staff that resulted in significant harm to Peter Klein. According to the complaint, Peter Klein was admitted to the hospital for surgery on August 22, 2023, due to complications from a chronic aortic dissection. Following his surgery on August 24, he faced an extended recovery period marked by multiple setbacks while under intensive care. During his stay at JFK Hospital, it is claimed that inadequate care led to the development of pressure ulcers on his body. “Failed to turn and reposition Plaintiff,” states one allegation against the hospital staff, highlighting a lack of standard care practices like using positioning aids and performing regular skin assessments.
The lawsuit further alleges that these lapses were not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern of neglect that included failing to adhere to wound care orders and allowing prolonged periods of sitting without proper support for existing wounds. These actions are said to have caused Peter Klein “bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering,” among other long-term damages such as disability and loss of earning capacity.
