Matthew Holt has filed a lawsuit against Boros Ventures, LLC, doing business as Skidders Restaurant, following a shocking incident that left him with severe injuries. The complaint was filed in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on October 17, 2024. Holt accuses his employer of negligence after an employee allegedly threw boiling soup on him.

According to the court documents, Matthew Holt was working at Skidders Restaurant on February 9, 2024, when Antoine Rivers, another employee at the establishment, allegedly assaulted him by throwing boiling soup. This act of violence resulted in significant injuries for Holt. The plaintiff claims that prior to this incident, Rivers had made both verbal and non-verbal threats against him. Despite being aware of these threats, Boros Ventures failed to take any preventive measures.

Holt’s complaint outlines several allegations against Boros Ventures regarding their handling of Rivers’ employment. These include negligent hiring practices, retaining an employee who posed a threat to others, inadequate supervision and training of Rivers, and failing to implement safeguards to prevent such assaults. The plaintiff argues that the restaurant should have foreseen the potential for harm due to their negligence and is seeking compensation for his injuries.
