Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has assigned state Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office to investigate the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

In making the announcement September 17, DeSantis said he doesn’t trust federal law enforcement to be able to conduct a fair investigation into the September 15 incident at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

DeSantis also questioned the impartiality of the federal government.
