A Palm Beach County resident has filed a lawsuit against the county and two homeowners associations, alleging negligence that led to significant personal injury. Angjelina Rasmy filed the complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on August 20, 2024, targeting Palm Beach County, Ashley Park Homeowners Association, Inc., and B.W. Homeowners Association, Inc.

The lawsuit stems from an incident on March 16, 2022, when Rasmy tripped and fell due to a gap in the asphalt road located at 22400 Sea Bass Drive in Boca Raton. According to the complaint, Rasmy asserts that all three defendants failed to maintain the roadway properly, resulting in hazardous conditions that caused her fall. The plaintiff claims that these unsafe conditions included broken asphalt spilling over into her driveway.

Rasmy’s complaint details multiple allegations of negligence against each defendant. She accuses Palm Beach County of failing to exercise reasonable care and diligence in maintaining the premises safely. Specifically, she claims that the county neglected its duty by not monitoring or repairing the dangerous condition of the road despite being aware of it. “PBC negligently and carelessly maintained its premises in an unsafe condition causing the Plaintiff to enter and be exposed to a dangerous condition upon the premises,” states one part of her claim.
