Patron sues Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar for Negligence Leading to Slip-and-Fall Injury
A woman is seeking justice after a dining experience turned into a nightmare. Meaghan Simpson filed a complaint on August 20, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar, LLC.
Simpson alleges that on May 18, 2023, she was lawfully present at Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar as a business invitee when she slipped and fell due to an unreasonably slippery greasy substance on the floor near the hibachi table. The lawsuit claims that Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar failed to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe condition, leading to her injuries. According to the complaint, “the Defendant failed to properly maintain and examine the floors to make sure they were safe and free from slippery-greasy substances.”
The plaintiff asserts that Sawa Hibachi Steakhouse & Sushi Bar had a duty to ensure the safety of its patrons but negligently failed in several ways. The complaint details multiple points of negligence: failing to maintain and inspect the floors adequately, not exercising reasonable care in maintaining the premises, and neglecting to warn patrons about dangerous conditions. It further alleges that this hazardous condition was regular and ongoing, suggesting that the defendant should have been aware of it.
