Florida Woman Sues Property Owner and Contractor Over Negligence Leading to Severe Injuries
A Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against two companies, alleging negligence that led to her severe injuries. Latonya Brown lodged the complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on August 7, 2024, targeting Coram Deo Capital Company USA LLC and All County Paving, Inc.
According to the court documents, Brown was an invitee at the Villas at Gateway property located at 2901 Gandy Blvd., Pinellas Park, which is owned and controlled by Coram Deo Capital Company USA LLC. On November 13, 2023, while paving work was being conducted by All County Paving, Inc., Brown claims she tripped and fell due to hazardous conditions created by the defendants’ negligence. The plaintiff alleges that both companies failed to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and neglected to warn her about dangerous conditions they knew or should have known about.
Brown’s complaint outlines several specific failures on the part of Coram Deo Capital Company USA LLC. She asserts that the company did not properly maintain the parking lot during and after paving activities. This included allowing incorrect paving that resulted in unreasonable tripping hazards and failing to provide adequate lighting at night. “Defendant also breached its duties by failing to timely inspect the parking lot during and after the paving,” reads one part of the complaint. As a result of these alleged oversights, Brown suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and aggravation of a pre-existing condition.
