A Palm Beach County resident has filed a lawsuit against two individuals, alleging negligence and strict liability after being attacked by their dog. Orlando Jose Rios Contreras filed the complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on August 6, 2024, against Brooks Bishop and Olympia Bishop.

According to the court documents, on January 26, 2023, Contreras was delivering alcoholic beverages to a property located at 9 Bella Vista Avenue in Lake Worth, Florida. Upon arriving at the residence and ringing the doorbell, Defendant Olympia Bishop opened the door with her rottweiler. The dog allegedly attacked Contreras, biting his left leg. The complaint asserts that there were no “beware of dog” signs on the property at the time of the incident.

Contreras claims that both defendants knew or should have known about their dog’s aggressive tendencies and failed to control it properly. The plaintiff’s lawyer states that this negligence resulted in severe and permanent injuries for Contreras. “Defendants knew or should have known of the dangerous condition they created by failing to control their dog,” reads one part of the complaint.
