A tragic incident involving a malfunctioning elevator has led to a significant lawsuit against three companies. On July 12, 2024, Jamise Bozeman Jr. filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Oracle Elevator Holdco, Inc., Premier Elevator Company, Inc., and Sea Ranch Club of Boca Condominium Association, Inc.

According to the complaint, Bozeman was lawfully on the premises at 4001-4501 N Ocean Blvd in Boca Raton on January 24, 2023, when an elevator he was using abruptly stopped. The plaintiff alleges that this incident resulted from negligence on the part of all three defendants. Specifically, Bozeman claims that Oracle Elevator Holdco and Premier Elevator Company failed to maintain the elevators in a reasonably safe condition and did not implement adequate policies or procedures for identifying dangerous conditions. Furthermore, Sea Ranch Club of Boca Condominium Association is accused of failing to correct or warn about these hazardous conditions despite having knowledge or should have had knowledge greater than that of Bozeman.

The complaint details multiple breaches of duty by each defendant. For instance, Oracle Elevator Holdco is alleged to have failed in devising and implementing adequate safety policies and training its employees properly. Similar accusations are made against Premier Elevator Company and Sea Ranch Club of Boca Condominium Association. These failures allegedly created foreseeable zones of risk for guests like Bozeman.
