A serious slip-and-fall incident at a West Palm Beach hotel has led to a lawsuit against three companies. On July 12, 2024, Alexia Cohen filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, against Retriever Asset Holding Corp., MSP Partners Realty, LLC, and Shiraz Management, LLC.

According to the complaint, Cohen was a business invitee at the Hilton Palm Beach Airport on October 23, 2021. While traversing through the lobby area of the hotel located at 150 Australian Avenue, she slipped and fell on water or another transient foreign substance. The fall resulted in serious personal injuries for Cohen. The defendants—Retriever Asset Holding Corp., MSP Partners Realty, LLC, and Shiraz Management, LLC—are accused of failing to maintain the premises in a reasonably safe condition and not warning Cohen about the hazardous conditions.

The plaintiff’s allegations include that all three defendants had actual or constructive knowledge of the dangerous condition for an unreasonable length of time but failed to remedy it. The complaint details several specific breaches by each defendant. For instance, it is alleged that Retriever Asset Holding Corp. created or allowed the dangerous condition by placing water or another substance on the floor and failed to remove it. Similarly, MSP Partners Realty and Shiraz Management are accused of neglecting appropriate safety measures to maintain slip-resistant floors and failing to warn guests about known dangers.
