Plaintiff injured in car crash sues driver and vehicle owner for negligence
A devastating car accident has led to a significant legal battle in Pinellas County, Florida. On June 20, 2024, Devin Tellefsen filed a complaint against Brian Barnes and Diana Barnes in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit. The case stems from an automobile collision that occurred on February 13, 2023.
According to the complaint, Tellefsen alleges that Brian Barnes negligently operated his vehicle, resulting in a severe crash at Memorial Causeway and Island Way in Clearwater. Tellefsen claims that this negligence caused him to sustain “severe, continuing and permanent injuries,” including significant loss of bodily function and permanent disfigurement. He further asserts that these injuries have led to ongoing pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and substantial medical expenses.
Tellefsen’s attorney argues that the defendant’s actions directly caused these damages. “As a direct and proximate result of the above-referenced negligence,” the complaint states, “Devin Tellefsen was caused to sustain severe injuries.” Additionally, it is claimed that the accident aggravated pre-existing conditions for Tellefsen. The plaintiff is seeking compensation for past and future medical expenses, lost wages, and diminished earning capacity.
