Florida lawyers, for the first time, could earn CLE for performing pro bono service under a proposed rule amendment that has been forwarded for consideration by the Florida Supreme Court.

The Board of Governors voted overwhelmingly at a March meeting to approve proposed amendments to Rule 6-10.3, (Minimum Continuing Legal Education Standards).

The proposal would add a new subdivision (h) that would allow a member to receive 1 hour of general continuing legal education credit for every 4 hours of pro bono service — not to exceed 5 hours of CLE in a three-year reporting cycle.
