Local judicial campaign conduct forums jointly sponsored by the Florida Supreme Court and The Florida Bar Board of Governors will be held Thursday and Friday, May 2 and 3.

Beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Time, the forums are scheduled in five cities across the state, each open to participation by candidates in adjacent circuits. The forums emphasize the importance of integrity and professionalism among candidates for judicial office and the potential impact of campaign misconduct on public trust and confidence in the courts. All judicial candidates seeking contested seats or facing active opposition for merit retention are encouraged to attend. Candidates unable to be present will have the opportunity to participate at a statewide webinar on May 3. Subject to change after the close of qualifying, the schedule is below.

Members of the Court’s Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee will review Canon 7 of Florida’s Code of Judicial Conduct, give examples of conduct which may violate the Code, call attention to informational resources, and further impress upon candidates, campaign staff, and others the seriousness with which the Supreme Court views any abuse of the elections process.  Additional information about the Committee may be accessed on the Supreme Court’s website.
