Bill to increase sovereign immunity limits is on to the Senate floor
A Senate panel agreed Thursday to send a revised sovereign immunity reform proposal to the floor, and an uncertain fate.
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted 15-0 to approve SB 472 by Sen. Jason Brodeur, R-Lake Mary.
The measure would double the per person and per incident caps on claims against government entities of $200,000 and $300,000 respectively, beyond which, an injured plaintiff is required to seek legislative approval through a “claims bill.”
